New Moon of February, 2016

Monday, February 8th, ushers in a New Moon, as well as the Chinese New Year of the Fire Monkey. As with every New Moon, this is the time to let into your life those people, places and things that will better serve you now and into the future. This is the time to step forward and become accountable for all you want, need and desire in your life; taking the steps and standing steadfast in your presentation of Self. This is not the time to hide your truth, essence or purpose in the shadows, or to give more weight to the wants, needs and beliefs of others over your own.

If you seek to achieve love, companionship, and resolving emotional and love-related issues, for many reasons this is a good year, the Year of the Fire Monkey, to accomplish those goals. People born in the Year of the Monkey (1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016) are often known to be hardworking and very lucky. Some people believe if you decorate your home and work environment in red, as it is an appealing color to the Fire Monkey, you will grab its attention in a good way. In the Chinese Zodiac, the Monkey symbolizes youthfulness, curiosity and creative energy, and is considered intelligent, hyperactive and strong minded. Like with all symbols, especially animal symbols, we must not forget their shadow side or opposite attributes. In this case, the Monkey is also considered to be a trickster, opportunistic, unfaithful, and untrustworthy.

As I mentioned in earlier posts, this year is about achievement and this month about providing us a very brief reprieve from the potential ups and downs of this coming year. Take some time over these next three days and think about the Monkey, with its positive and negative attributes, and what this year may hold for you. At the same time, don’t allow yourself to believe that Monkey will stand in your way of achieving the changes and goals you have set for yourself. You can absolutely achieve your goals if you choose to do so! The only obstacles in your way are those you set before you. Overcoming those obstacles will require a steady mindfulness; your own deep, penetrating, conscious mindfulness; an awareness only you can establish and hold for yourself.

And, while this is the Year of the Fire Monkey … let me ask, who will be controlling your life this year ? You or the Fire Monkey?
